For a list of all supported Microsoft 365 subscriptions, see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/en\/app\/about\/service-description\/\">MetaShare Service Description<\/a>.&nbsp;If you are unsure which subscription you have, <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.office.com\/account\/#subscriptions\" target=\"_blank\">click&nbsp;here<\/a>&nbsp;and if you&nbsp;want to&nbsp;get a&nbsp;free Microsoft 365 trial account, <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/p\/?LinkID=510938\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you activate MetaShare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must login with an Microsoft 365&nbsp;account with the Global Administrator role.&nbsp;It must not be a guest account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you don\u2019t have access to such an account, someone else, with this permission, must assist in activating MetaShare for you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information about the accounts and permissions that are required for activation, configuration and administration of MetaShare can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/faq\/what-accounts-and-permissions-are-required-to-manage-metashare\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not yet have contact with anyone from the MetaShare team, please&nbsp;fill in the&nbsp;fields on one of these forms and, within short, someone from the MetaShare team will supply you with a link to activate MetaShare and guide you through the MetaShare activation and configuration process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/en\/free-licence\/\">Try MetaShare for free 1 month<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/en\/buy-metashare\/\">Buy a MetaShare license<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Before activating MetaShare we would like to make you assure that a MetaShare activation does not do any changes to any of your existing sites in SharePoint. You can safely activate MetaShare and later&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/faq\/how-do-i-inactivate-metashare\">deactivate it<\/a>&nbsp;without any risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a quick reference on how to activate MetaShare, watch this video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" hcb-fetch-image-from=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=F2hb-Oklz4g\" title=\"How to activate MetaShare\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F2hb-Oklz4g?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Or read the following steps to understand what the activation actually does:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first thing you need to do, when activation MetaShare, is to approve that MetaShare is granted&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/faq\/what-permissions-does-the-metashare-app-require\/\">appropriate SharePoint permissions<\/a>&nbsp;in order to perform tasks such as: upload documents, create documents, search for documents and create workspaces. The permissions are granted by clicking on the \u201cAccept\u201d button on the form below:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"674\" class=\"wp-image-10066\" style=\"width: 300px;\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Granting-MetaShare-permissions.png\" alt=\"Granting MetaShare permissions\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Granting-MetaShare-permissions.png 372w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Granting-MetaShare-permissions-133x300.png 133w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br>MetaShare will now be added as an Azure app, in your&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Azure portal<\/a>:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"812\" height=\"403\" class=\"wp-image-1069\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-356.png\" alt=\"MetaShare in your Azure portal\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-356.png 812w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-356-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-356-768x381.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 812px) 100vw, 812px\" \/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After clicking on the \u201cAccept\u201d button, in the permission request page, you will most probably get this message:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"464\" height=\"207\" class=\"wp-image-9363\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-started.jpg\" alt=\"MetaShare activation started\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-started.jpg 464w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-started-300x134.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><br>This is due to latencies in setting appropriate permissions in Azure and you might have to wait for about 30 minutes. Click on the \u201cTry again\u201d button every few minutes and once the permissions have been set you will be directed to the first step of MetaShare\u2019s activation wizard:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"829\" height=\"590\" class=\"wp-image-4559\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-1.jpg\" alt=\"MetaShare activation - step 1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-1.jpg 829w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-1-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-1-768x547.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 829px) 100vw, 829px\" \/><br>On the top of the page, you see some information about your Microsoft 365 tenant. This information will be stored in MetaShare\u2019s internal database in Azure, in order to keep track of MetaShare users. The logged in user will be set as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/metashare\/adminmanual\/settings\/security-settings\/\">Site Collection Administrator<\/a>, but can be changed to any account after the activation. On the bottom of the page you can choose to add some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/adminmanual\/metashares-default-term-sets\">sample data\/terms<\/a>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/adminmanual\/metashares-default-columns-and-content-type\/\">sample columns and content type<\/a>\u00a0(currently available in English and in Swedish).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not choose to add the sample data before clicking on the \u201cContinue\u201d button, then you will jump directly to step 4, else this is what you will have to do:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you do not have appropriate permissions to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/adminmanual\/how-to-access-the-term-store\">SharePoint\u2019s term store<\/a>, a message will be shown under the \u201cContinue\u201d button prompting you to add yourself as a term store administrator:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"456\" height=\"64\" class=\"wp-image-1068\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-922.png\" alt=\"You must be an administrator in the term store to configure MetaShare\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-922.png 456w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-922-300x42.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><br>To add yourself as an administrator, just click on the \u201cTerm Store\u201d link in the message. A new browser tab will open where you can add yourself as one of the \u201cTerm Store Administrators\u201d:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"555\" height=\"137\" class=\"wp-image-1083\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-923.png\" alt=\"Assigning term store administrators\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-923.png 555w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-923-300x74.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/><br>After having assigned yourself the permission, just close the tab and click again on the \u201cContinue\u201d button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This will lead you to the next step in the activation, to manually&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/adminmanual\/how-to-publish-unpublish-a-site-content-type\/\">publish the document content type<\/a>&nbsp;that was created in the previous step:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"830\" height=\"223\" class=\"wp-image-4561\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-2.jpg\" alt=\"MetaShare activation - step 2\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-2.jpg 830w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-2-300x81.jpg 300w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MetaShare-activation-step-2-768x206.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><br>If you get an \u201cAccess denied\u201d message after clicking the \u201cPublish\u201d button, you first need to add yourself as a site collection administrator in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/get-started\/definition-of-columns-and-content-types\/#definition-of-the-content-type-hub\">Content Type Hub<\/a>, by clicking on the \u201cContent Type Hub\u201d link. A new browser tab will open where you can add yourself as one of the \u201cSite Collection Administrators\u201d:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"627\" height=\"303\" class=\"wp-image-4563\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Site-collection-administrator-in-the-content-type-hub.jpg\" alt=\"Site collection administrator in the content type hub\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Site-collection-administrator-in-the-content-type-hub.jpg 627w, https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Site-collection-administrator-in-the-content-type-hub-300x145.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 627px) 100vw, 627px\" \/><br>After having assigned yourself the permission, just close the tab and click again on the \u201cPublish\u201d button.
